SmartLabs LLC committed to Open Standards with Membership in the Open IPTV Forum

User interface and IPTV SDP specialist to contribute to end-to-end specifications for interactive IPTV interoperability and technology advancement

Moscow, Russia— 28 July 2009 — SmartLabs LLC, a leader in SDP for interactive digital television, innovative client applications and user interfaces for STBs, today announced that is has been accepted as a member in the Open IPTV Forum (www.oipf.tv), the pan-industry initiative that was established to take IPTV to the mass market.

Founded in 2007, the Open IPTV Forum’s goal is to develop and promote an open, end-to-end specification for IPTV based upon existing technologies and open standards that could help to streamline and accelerate deployments of IPTV technologies and help to maximize the benefits of IPTV for consumers, network operators, content providers, service providers, consumer electronics manufacturers and home and network infrastructure providers.

The Forum Chairman, Mr. Yun Chao Hu stated: “The Open IPTV Forum leadership is very happy to extend its membership to Russia and it hopes to be considered instrumental in the facilitation of future major Eastern European IPTV deployments. SmartLabs has expressed its support for the direction that the Forum has taken and this is received as a stimulating message by the current membership”.
